Deans’ Speaking Notes

Our Marketing & Communications team helps to prepare and edit speaking notes for the dean and associate deans of the DeGroote School of Business.

Speaking Note Guidelines and Process

Please note that submitting a request for the dean or an associate dean to speak does not guarantee participation. All requests will be assessed on a case-by-case basis by the Dean’s Office to determine availability, and the Marketing & Communications team to manage sufficient lead time.

Program Directors and staff are responsible for their own speaking notes. To assist with this process, previous years’ notes can be provided if available.

Dean’s Speaking Note Process

Step One

Contact the Dean’s Office a minimum of four weeks before the event with the high level details (ie. event date, time, location, purpose/goal etc.).

Step Two

  • If the Dean is confirmed to attend, a briefing note template will be provided.
  • Please complete the briefing note with all requested event information and key speaking points.
  • Once completed, please send it back to the Dean’s Office a minimum of three weeks before the event.

Step Three

  • The Dean’s Office will share the briefing note with our Marketing & Communications team.
  • Speaking notes will be created based on the information provided, incorporating relevant School/University updates.
  • Draft speaking notes will be shared with the Dean for approvals* and a final version will be provided to the requestor.

* Draft may be shared with the requestor first (at the discretion of Marketing & Communications) to ensure the information has been captured accurately.
