Every person on the DeGroote Marketing and Communications team believes in DeGroote’s mission and values. They have chosen to work here because they believe in the value and impact of education. They have chosen to work here because they believe that business should and must be done differently and that modern business and society benefit when ethics, compassion, and humanity are at the root of everything we do. We are the advocates and storytellers of a better future.
Marketing and communications as a category of business is so vast that it would be odd if you didn’t have questions about what we do (and don’t do).
This is our attempt to answer as many questions as possible about what our team is skilled in, our day-to-day work, and what makes us unique. Don’t see an answer you’re looking for? Simply let us know and we’ll do our best to answer that for you.
The Marketing and Communications team is not resourced to provide photography support. Please make every effort to arrange photography for your event.
Capturing photos at events reflects the essence and impact of community engagement at DeGroote. It is an important component of our internal and external outreach on social media and included in several of the School’s collateral pieces.
Good quality photos can be captured on cell phones. For larger events and initiatives, hiring a photographer may be more appropriate. We can provide a list of student photographers, as well as contacts for external vendors who work with DeGroote.
We have also created this Event Capture Guide that can be used to help design your own photography capture plan.
Some things seem to belong to the Marketing and Communications team, but the support lies elsewhere in DeGroote.
We have structured our team with a key contact person for our Programs and Partners. We ask that you reach out to these individuals first for any marketing and communications support, and the leads will loop in the wider team when and where required.

We align with the DeGroote Strategic Plan values. In addition, our department lives and breathes these values:
Our vision is to shape perceptions, create and support lifelong DeGroote journeys and to increase opportunities for businesses and society to interact with DeGroote.
Our mission is to be the bridge between DeGroote and the community by creating impactful opportunities for the open flow of knowledge with our partners.
When you work with our team, you’re not working with one individual. You are benefiting from the collective skill sets of the entire team.
What this means is that you will benefit from individuals who are maniacal in research and data, who look at problems creatively, and who understand, bluntly, the internet but also approach a solution through the journalistic standards of truth, believability and factuality.
Individually, we are specialists. Collectively, we are strategic, complimentary, and live by the standard of the best idea wins.
Simply put, we are solution-oriented, and our expertise lies in marketing and communications strategies and tactics. This includes but is not limited to, understanding complex marketing funnels, customer journeys, strategic communications, digital literacy, and user experience.
We want you to come to us with problems so we can help you find the correct solution for your audience.
Together, we will kick off an initial needs analysis meeting to better scope out the problem you need to solve. This will outline a timeline and scope of work for our partnership and the solution that is best suited. Beyond this, we ask that all partners recognize their role in the success of the work, specifically as it relates to timelines and commitments. As a team, we need to be focused on maintaining the original scope of work promised, and this mentality applies to all stages, from the initial conception to the final execution launch. This ensures proper resourcing is provided, our timelines are solid, and the end product is as successful as possible.
Each project will have a unique scope of work and timeline, and we welcome the audit and workload requirement feedback at the planning stage so we are all set up for success!
We’re looking to step out of the shadows of who MaCE was and redefine our focus, our approach to the work, and the impact we’re looking to have in the organization.
We understand and believe that there are more impactful ways to approach and do our work, and we are confident in our expertise.
We’re excited to not only improve DeGroote’s market position, but we are looking to increase the frequency in our insights to our partners and the faculty, executing communications strategies, and aligning parts of the organization that require strategic alignment (e.g. examining the need for a Partnerships committee).
