DeGroote School of Business

Deans’ Speaking Notes

Our Communications team helps to prepare and edit speaking notes for the Dean and Associate Deans of the DeGroote School of Business

Speaking Note Guidelines and Process

Would you like the Dean or an Associate Dean to speak at your event? There are a series of steps to follow when requesting our Dean or Associate Deans to be present, please see them outlined below.

Step One

Contact the Dean’s Office at least three to four weeks before the event with all the necessary details.

Please indicate in the message to the Dean’s Executive Assistant that you would like the Dean to speak. The Dean’s Office will then let you know if he is able to attend the event.

Step Two

If the Dean is confirmed to attend, the requestor will receive a briefing note template.

Please complete the briefing note document with all relevant information (date, time, location, audience, event schedule, key messages you would like the Dean to address, and any other information he needs to be aware of prior to attending.) Key messages can be listed in bullet points and do not have to be written out in full sentences.

Once the briefing note is complete, please send back to the Dean’s Office.

Step Three

The Dean’s Office will share the briefing note with our team. We will edit the speaking notes to match the tone of the Dean (or Associate Dean) and will incorporate any relevant School/University updates.

It will then be sent for approval by our team to the Dean (or Associate Dean). A final version will be then sent back to the requestor.

Important Note: Program Directors and Staff are responsible for their own speaking notes. To assist throughout this process, previous year notes can be included as a starting point.
